Mendip Cave Rescue were called by Avon and Somerset Police via SARCALL at 10:39 on 17th April 2026, requesting assistance to support Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue service who had been called to rescue a dog that had fallen into a small fissure that had appeared on farmland above West Harptree. A small team of MCR members were mobilised, but as they arrived at the location, the Fire Service team members had managed to safely retrieve the dog from its underground hiding place and reunite it with its owner. MCR members were stood down at 11:28.
